Welcome

Welcome to the 4th International Symposium on Extremely Advanced Transmission Technologies (EXAT2017). Since 2008, EXAT has promoted the research and development of ultra-high capacity optical communication and optical transport network based on the combination of digital signal processing and space division multiplexing know as 3M technologies.

EXAT2017 will be held at the heart of the historic city of Nara, the ancient capital built about 1300 years ago.

We hope to share the cutting-edge technologies and hot discussions in the fascinating place next to the many famous ancient temples and shrines of Nara, registered as Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

EXAT

EXAT community in JAPAN initiated the development of the technology in 2008 and has led the investigation of 3-M (multi-core, multi-mode, multi-level) technology. The scope of EXAT includes novel optical fibers, components, and transmission and node technologies for space-division-multiplexing (SDM).

Objective

The objective of this symposium is to discuss the current status and the challenges for practical implementation of 3M technologies.

This is the 4th EXAT international symposium after EXAT 2008/2013/2015 held in Tokyo, Sapporo, and Kyoto, Japan.
